CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE BUILDER OF THE YEAR AWARDS
The Goodguys “Chevrolet Performance Builder of the Year” are new awards for 2021 sponsored by Chevrolet Performance to recognize two professional builders for crafting an exceptional car or truck. Two skilled Builders will walk away with bragging rights and the ultimate trophy - a Chevrolet Performance Connect & Cruise crate powertrain system to start their next build. Are you built for this?
There will be two winners of this award:
- “Chevrolet GM Iron” Builder of the Year - awarded to a Chevrolet or GM vehicle build
- “Chevrolet Retro Iron” Builder of the Year - awarded to a non-GM vehicle build, powered by a GM powertrain

How To Enter
There are two categories within the Goodguys Chevrolet Performance Builder of the Year Awards: “GM Iron”, open to all show eligible GM made and powered vehicles and “Retro Iron”, open to show eligible GM powered vehicles of all makes.
Qualifications
The Chevrolet Performance Builder of the Year Awards winners will showcase their craftsmanship and skills through an exceptionally built car or truck. There are no boundaries, no limitations. From period correct attention-to-detail to unique customization with modern performance, engineering, and styling, this coveted award will find its way to the right car, the right builder. The build will speak to the passion for power, performance, and beauty.
Basic Criteria
This award is designed to honor two exceptional builds; a GM bodied car and a non-GM bodied car. All entrants must be GM powered. The award is open to all styles and genres of cars and trucks from traditional to radical to modern.
Eligibility
Street Rods, Hot Rods, Trucks, Street Machines, Customs, Custom Rods and Muscle Cars through 1987 vintage at national events and through 2021 for Get-Together events.

FAQ's
Q: Can the car owner win this award?
A: No. This award is giving credit and recognition to a professional builder and shop that built the vehicle.
Q: Can I run for a Meguiar’s Top-12 Award and Goodguys Chevrolet Performance Builder of the Year?
A: Yes. Entrants can qualify a vehicle for a Top-12 category and builder of the year.
Q: What if I can’t commit to having the car on display at the 24th Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals (Nov 19-21)?
A: The winning builder and vehicle must be on display at this year-end event. If the builder and the car cannot be there, the award will go to a runner-up.
Q: If I enter at an event and don’t win a finalist qualifying pick, can I enter the same build at another event?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I enter two vehicles, one for each class?
A: Yes, however winners will be eligible for (one) connect & cruise package only. If you entered multiple vehicles and both are selected as a finalist pick, you will have to determine which class you want to be considered for builder of the year.
CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE BUILDER OF THE YEAR (GM IRON)
Eligibility: All GM body made and powered vehicles 1987 vintage for national events and 2021 vintage for Get-Together events.
Basic Criteria: This award is designed to honor a GM powered and bodied car and its professional builder. The award is open to all GM made and powered styles and genres of cars and trucks from traditional to radical to modern.
How to Enter: Builders will need to register for the "Chevrolet Performance Builder of the Year Awards" when they check-in for each event and must park their vehicle in the Chevrolet Performance Builders Choice Special Parking Area on the Saturday of each event between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Click here for complete eligibility and entry details.
One vehicle and its builder will be chosen as a “finalist” for each class by the Goodguys Awards Selection Committee. The “Goodguys Chevrolet Performance Builder of the Year” winners will be officially selected from the field of “finalists” by the Goodguys Awards Selection Committee on Friday, October 8. The grand prize winner and their winning vehicle for each respective class will be showcased at the 24th Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Ariz. on November 19-21.
